Rafting Trips
The float
plane will pick
your group up in the morning and whisk you over craggy mountain tops
and then circle in to land on a glacier-teal lake. This excursion is
un-guided, because it's such a mellow ride...No whitewater here, just
great success in fishing for Pinks, Silvers, Rainbows and Dolly Varden,
depending on the time of summer, PLUS you'll enjoy fantastic photo ops
as you float right past Kodiak Brown Bear!! Pull over to the riverbank
for a picnic lunch beneath an enormous eagle's nest, paddle along until
you find the perfect eddy to ply the waters for a spunky
trout, then make your way to the river mouth, where dozens of
harbor seal can often be seen chasing their supper.
The bird's-eye
view from the
float plane on the way back to the lodge at the end of the day will
give you a glimpse of Kodiak's numerous inlets and fjord-like bays
which create such a prolific marine eco-system. The banya will be hot
when you return, and you can bake your paddle weary muscles or give
them the cold treatment by taking the plunge in our ice cold creek!
