Kayaking

Alderwood Retreat has one single and three double kayaks by Perception. These recreational kayaks are wider than the standard boat, making them extremely stable. Even novices will feel right at home almost immediately. A nearby bird rookery makes a nice destination for beginning paddlers, and is one of Hunter's favorite spots to visit when he gets to go along.

Kayaking is an activity enjoyed by guests of all ages. Dry Spruce Bay provides opportunities for a variety of courses, including a short run to the Kittiwakes/Tufted Puffin rookery, a route that circumnavigates Bare Island to see an old fox farm, a cruise along the coast of Kodiak past an old cannery, and a great number of photo ops.

Paddling will almost certainly be a high point of your trip; we can't wait to share it with you!

You made us feel welcome in your home and showed us a great time.

I felt so lucky to spend a week with you guys at Alderwood.
