The kelp forests in Kodiak's waters are beautiful for experienced divers to explore.

DIVE Kodiak!!!

The diving in Alaska is reputed to be some of the best in the whole world...The cold water inhibits the growth of algae, so visibility is often some of the best you'll ever experience.  The kelp forests are surreal, waving gently in the current and providing shelter for a myriad of sea creatures.  Check out Kodiak's huge sea anenomes, spy on halibut that think they're hidden on the ocean floor and, if the Sea Gods are pleased with you, perhaps even cross paths with local residents like octopus or sea lions!!

Your divemaster will be Mick Chapman, of Cortez Explorers.  Currently operating his PADI 5-Star Gold Palm Instructor Development Center in Mulege, Mexico, Mick has owned dive shops in several countries since he first began scuba diving in 1976 while he was enlisted in the British Army.   With over 30 years of scuba diving under his belt, from Mexico to Egypt to Norway, Mick has over 14,000 dives logged and loves sharing the underwater world with other adventurous souls.

All dive gear will be provided, including dry suits, BCDs, air tanks, weights, etc.  You must already have your coldwater/dry suit training in order to participate and WILL be asked to provide your certification card at registration.  Alderwood Retreat will provide transportation between Kodiak and the lodge, all meals and housing in rooms/cabins overlooking the beach.  When you're not diving, you can stay busy & active by hiking, kayaking or beachcombing, or try out our new Fitness Trail!!   Space is limited, and discounts are available for group bookings, so call today to reserve space for these spectacular events!!

Thank you for sharing your special lives with us.

Sea anenomes are strange but beautiful creatures.
