Dining at Alderwood Retreat
All
dining takes place "family-style" in the main cabin. Breakfast is
served when our guests feel like starting their day,
and no earlier! Boxed lunches are packed when water activities are planned,
otherwise a hearty lunch is served in the main cabin around mid-day. We
usually sit down to dinner around 7:00.
Our
menus consist of standard American fare, with a leaning towards
healthy, low-fat meals.
Bread
is made from freshly-milled wheat, jams/jellies/syrups are made from
rhubarb from the garden and local berries, and salad is picked fresh
from our garden when seasonally available. Special diets (vegetarian,
diabetic,
allergies, etc.) can be easily accommodated with sufficient advance
notice.
Many
people are unnecessarily intimidated by the prospect of cooking
seafood, so we've
added cooking classes
to our repertoire! There's no additional cost for you and
your group to learn some simple, healthy and delicious ways to
prepare Alaskan wild salmon and halibut, just let us know
you'd like to include some hands-on time in the kitchen during
your visit.
