June
2nd Annual Volunteer Week
at Alderwood Retreat (Tentative dates: June 1-7)
If you’re willing and able to pitch in with the many chores necessary to get the lodge ready for the summer, get your bod to “the Rock!” We’ll transport, house and feed our volunteers in return for a fair amount of manual labor: painting, trail clearing/building, repairs/maintenance, etc. Down-time may be spent hiking, kayaking, and fishing. Space is extremely limited, so e-mail us a note listing your qualifications to take advantage of this opportunity.

Women-Only Week(s) at Alderwood Retreat (Tentative dates: June 13-19, 20-25, & 27-30)
The bulk of June will be separated into three blocks of 4-5 days each, and is set aside for women only!! Ladies, gather your BFFs and head North, to Alaska! Watch this page for updates as to the special events scheduled for each of the “weeks” we have planned. Some of the services we have arranged are: cooking classes with a Pari-trained chef, naturalist guided hikes and gathering/utilizing wild edibles, a one-hour full body massage for each guest, Tai Chi/Fitness Boot Camp &/or Yoga classes, a course in making your own bath salts and essential oil sprays, and much more. E-mail your queries right away, as Alderwood caters exclusively to small groups and space fills up fast. Hiking, kayaking, whale-watching, and a day of fishing, along with gourmet spa food and a nightly sauna will make this the perfect Girlfriends’ Getaway!!

July
Quantities of Halibut increase almost weekly, with King Salmon becoming more readily available. Fantastic saltwater fishing takes place literally in our front yard. Whale activity is on the rise as well, and their spouting is often visible from your cabin window! In an effort to maintain an intimate, homey atmosphere Alderwood Retreat caters exclusively to small groups, so space fills quickly. Call today to reserve a block for your group.

August
Higher temperatures and the beginning of the Silver Salmon run makes August the most desirable time of year to visit Alderwood Retreat. I often tell people that there’s nowhere else on the planet I’d rather be in August than on Kodiak Island. Sitka Blacktail deer hunting season opens August 1, but the vegetation is thick this time of year, so you’d best be very fit if you intend on tackling our terrain! Again, space is limited and this month fills up fast, so don’t delay in making your reservations!

September
Silver Salmon and Halibut are still available in the waters around our lodge. Only one booking will be accepted (for the first week of September) so if this is your preferred time slot contact us right away.

Camp Closing Volunteer Crew (Dates as yet to be determined) Another work week will be scheduled to take care of getting the buildings/grounds prepped for winter. Fishing is beginning to taper off, but Silvers /Halibut/Kings are still around and the Sitka Blacktail deer season has opened.

We have experienced a life changing journey.
